Wednesday's Wander to the Wayside: Chattanooga Nature Center

Last weekend, my daughter and her family and my husband and I had a daycation at the Chattanooga Nature Center. We only live thirty minutes away, so it was an enjoyable afternoon that didn't involve a lot of driving! It wasn't a big whoop like Yellowstone or Disneyland, but we enjoyed it, and the boys (three and six) had a great time as this was their first canoe trip. I won't bore you with a lot of narration, most of it is pretty self explanatory, and only the names have changed from anyone else's photos of their daycation. I will say this ... it was hotter than hell, but that's life in Georgia and Tennessee these days!

Awesome pictures, Linda. I love the tree house -- I'd love to live in one like that. It looked like you guys had a lot of fun.

Looks like such fun. Perhaps my favorite trips are those that are close to home. If I had something as unusual an beautiful as what you have pictured here, I'd go often.

Great shots, we lived in Ft Mill SC a few years back. The mountains and wildernesses, to me, were the best part of the area.

Alice, I actually took some photos of the inside of the tree house, but didn't want to put too many up. It had a totem pole and a stain glass window!

Midlife, isn't it funny, though, that most times we don't go to those close places unless we're trying to entertain visitors? That wasn't the case here, but most times I don't find or see these places until an out-of-town relative comes!

glnroz, you just can't beat our area for trees and wilderness! Well, I guess you can, but I'm always impressed by just how many trees we do have.

Thank you for stopping by my blog. I read your profile and I too was adopted, and found my natural parents (my birth mother follows my blog actually). I too am the child of alcoholics. I look forward to your insights if you continue to follow or backread posts. Your pictures are lovely, as is your smile.

What a great way to spend the day! That trail looks awesome, and I love the treehouse. That has got to be one of the most elaborate and beautiful treehouses I've ever seen! And canoing... I have the BEST memories of canoing as a child. Those were the funnest days!

I LOVE that Shel Silverstein poem. And I love how the tree's growing right through the roof. How very fun.
